I've never applied to Google, but I did fill out their Google Grants form a few years ago. I haven't heard back yet, but I'm sure they have a lot of emails to go through.
I broke my 30 minute rule. Today's strip took a couple hours. I hope you don't mind all the thought balloons, because that was an hour right there.
I made this jpeg and this one in case you want to challenge someone.
Wow, great stuff Steve, keep up the awesome. Doesn't matter how long it took you, the quality makes up for all of it.Raven16 months ago#1648reply

greatI thought the guy on the right was black, until I realized that he's transparent and the ground behind him was brown. How weird.
But great cartoon though. Didn't see what it was getting to but the last panel made it all worth it.Daniel16 months ago#1650reply

So it definitely is Ode to Joy?
I kinda recognise it at a first glance, but without any hints, nope, nothing.Raven15 months ago#1668reply

Visualize the color spectrum going in a circle where blue fades into red. Now visualize one octave of sound going in a circle where G fades into A. Overlay the two circles. This is a natural overlay because it covers both an entire octave and the entire visible color spectrum - which just so happens to have about one octave of colors.
Rotate the sound octave until E is aligned with the greenest green. Now you have a cheat-sheet which you can use to decode the blocks. It really doesn't matter what note you align it to. As the soon-to-be interviewee in the strip pointed out, you should recognize the song in any key. However, aligning green to E will put it in the traditional key.
The only discrepancy I noticed was the dotted quarter note at the end of Ode to Joy. The Google bridge guard cheated and used a 2-peg-long piece and a 1-peg-long piece because he didn't have any 3-peg-long legos. But in his defense, if you hum out the song, it still sounds the same, even with the tiny split in one of the notes.swb15 months ago#1676reply
I was totally expecting a Rickroll as soon as he said music. Thank you for avoiding the obvious joke.BlueNight15 months ago#1679reply
I thought he was black, then I learned he was transparent.Anonymous15 months ago#1689reply
terrible. just terrible...Anonymous15 months ago#1696reply
My friend showed me the riddle first and I managed to figure it out to a tolerable degree. I knew it was ___ to ___ and that the colors were assigned to notes, but I just didn't know how to apply the color distribution to whatever note, so I failed there.
Still, good riddle. I'm gonna steal it, alright? ;DBreasticle15 months ago#1705reply

I too also thought the interviewee was black.
But until the penultimate panel, I thought the bearded old chap actually had a wobbly pac-man head, forever frozen in a huge grin.Jacq9 months ago#2624reply
