As long as we allow ourselves to indulge a feeling of us versus them, man's inhumanity to man will continue. That's why Jesus said "Love your enemy."BlueNight21 months ago#246reply

It is only disturbing because it reveals true human nature... remove religion and people will gather around new, even more retarded things to praise and do things in the name of..FrostReaver21 months ago#257reply
Missing the pointThe FSM has nothing to do with Christianity. This comic says nothing about it either. People do not really believe in the FSM. It is a tool to illustrate the absurdity of using a particular belief to justify an action or law. There are more than 1 religion. Try to understand things better.Hank21 months ago#259reply
The true message of the FSM is to show that any religion has as much credibility as any other one. Christians live their lives off a story that was written thousands of years ago, Buddhism is not a religion but a way of living. And Muslims live on a book that was written by a guy that said Allah talked to him. How pathetic are we as a human race to think that there is a supreme being that created life on earth and nowhere else? And that this same being just happened to make people one day. Are you kidding me? dont let your so called faith blind you. No god would ever tell his people to kill. Look at the major wars in the worlds history, and tell me how many of them were primarily caused by religion. Religion is an excuse for violence and power. What god requires churches that cost millions of dollars when there are people starving in our own country and around the world? Anonymous20 months ago#278reply
FSM - as good as any...I like the flying spagetti monster. I like that the other guy came and killed him. I really thought that the FSM was two skinned testicles upside down walking on the vans deferens. I like the fact that I am a heathen. I only fight when someone punches me.vee20 months ago#295reply

nice comic!to the (a)theists who just don't understand this comic: pretty much all of our major religions have founding principles that say that fighting over beliefs is stupid ---we should all be one (as Guru Nanuk - first Sikh Guru said: There is no Muslim there is no Hindu, All is One) Despite these apparently enlightened founding ideals all of these systems have been at one time or another - justifications for violence and "evil." It doesn't matter how ideal your ideals are - even atheism or loving your neighbour can be used to justify awful stuff. And yes Buddhism is a "Religion" as much as the others. The Tibetan Dahli Llama commanded an army in the 1930s. (Or is that Atheist Chinese Communist Propaganda?)What should be challenged more but isn't: the idea of categorising things as "Religion" is something that should be questioned. It is a convention of Western Academia to categorise things as only being a real religion if they have a book, a creed, and some other criteria. A lot of people have spiritual practices more important than beliefs... "Hindu" is actually a british colonial term lumping a lot of different things together.I think monotheism (All is one) usually backfires because (unliky polytheism which accepts more diversity of gods) people argue over what The One is. But often monotheism finds ways of including many gods with semantics as in the Catholic Trinity and variety of Saints.Science gets religious if it can't be questioned (fortunately the definition of Science is usually inclusive of questioning) but people find a way to be pious and exclusive because they can and it helps solve short term problems. (Even if the long term impact might get fuedal)rusl18 months ago#936reply

My two cents: I believe in a forgiving and loving God. I know the Bible was written by men, so it is not the direct word of God, and should not be accepted word for word. The God I believe in does not want us to kill or to build expensive churches. I do not think any one major religion is correct, but I think many of them share important truths such as forgiveness, love, and peace. It is the people who use these religions as tools and twist them to their own purposes that lead to the wars that so often get cited against the religions. Blame those people, not religion.Anonymous12 months ago#2316reply
@ #278...The people are the church, not the buildings. Understand the Bible or GTFO.Sadly, what people say about the wars being started over religion is essentially true. Kinda upsetting, but the religion shouldn't be held responsible. Just the geniuses who think God is telling them to kill people for him.Anyhoo... Funny post, I lol'ed.Anonymous9 months ago#2718reply
Nice post. And I don't think the whole human race can fit into one ism - whether religion-name-ism or atheism.Anonymous7 months ago#2827reply
