I dont think you got:
TWO: 'You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.' ( you got ONE: 'You shall have no other gods before Me.' but I dont think that covers 2)
Or
NINE: 'You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.' liz18 months ago#608reply
haread carefully liz. the bible tooAnonymous18 months ago#609reply
poster number 2 wins.Anonymous18 months ago#638reply
Liz, you entirely ruined that. It's a comic, it's just a joke... Lighten up.Anonymous18 months ago#640reply
Yes, wherever there is satire there will also be some bible thumper quoting from that fairy tale book scolding the satirist. Join the real world, Liz, and you won't find it in that book.Alex18 months ago#689reply
Liz is made of fail.
"You shall have no other gods" = "a chance to worship that delicious pie"Anonymous18 months ago#703reply

Come of it people, it's a comic about the Ten Commandments, which are found in the Bible (and Talmud, IIRC). It's not exactly unreasonable to refer to the bible in this case.
Alex, where does Liz 'scold', exactly? It's simply a comment; the author claims all ten, Liz challenges this claim.
As for the commandments in the comic, if you take the Catholic interpretation (as helpfully provided by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ten_Commandments) then it fits; no idols falls under no other gods. Still not sure about false witness though...Worldbeing16 months ago#1142reply
False WitnessI think False Witness is covered by "...she'd leave that douche bag if he wasn't rich."Anon16 months ago#1173reply
I don't usually bother with the other comments, but worldbeing meant "Tanukh" or "Torah", not "Talmud."
Don't try to be religiously tolerant if you don't know what the hell you're talking about. You obviously don't care at all about Judaism, whoever you are. Jacob16 months ago#1341reply

In reply to Jacob, comment #1341:
dear JacobBeing uneducated about the right words he should be using does not equal 'not caring about Judaism'. Sure, he was wrong and could've looked it up, but a gentle correction goes a lot further than needless rage.Anonymous16 months ago#1362reply
One of the translations of the ten commandments has number two meaning something along the lines of "Thou shall not make for yourself an idol...etc" instead of a "carved image." In this case, his worshiping of the woman would be "idolizing" her or making for himself an idol (of her). This is different from number one, which is covered by the final statement "Woman is God."
I think this is what the author was going for, at least. Although, who am I to speak for the author? Nick13 months ago#2231reply
"I'd shoot my own parents..." I think that covers the false witness(lie) if the "She would leave him..." doesn't.Anonymous12 months ago#2268reply

In reply to Anonymous, comment #703:
not saying liz is right, but she specifically mentioned that "you shall have no other gods before me" was covered in the comic.Anonymous10 months ago#2524reply
whoaeasy on the sacrilege. I'm a christian myself (baptist if anyone gives a sh*t), but it's not quite fair to sum us all up as the overplayed image of a judgmental, closed-minded, pig-head.
I've been reading these comics all day and enjoyed everyone one of them.
There's just no need to ruin the humor by slamming a controversial topic such as religion by calling an important collection of beliefs a "book of fairy tales"."bible thumper"10 months ago#2582reply
Wow, you're a Christian and you survived my comics? I salute you.swb10 months ago#2584reply
